Erika McAfee-Levan, MA, LPCC

Founder & Clinical Director

Erika McAfee-Levan, MA, LPCC, LPC, is a licensed professional clinical counselor in Minnesota and a licensed professional counselor in Michigan. She is also a Board-Approved Supervisor for LPCCs in Minnesota. Erika is the founder of Levan Counseling & Consulting Services, now rebranded as Emerging Journeys Collective, a practice dedicated to culturally responsive, transformative mental health care.

With more than 17 years of clinical experience, Erika specializes in trauma recovery, emotional regulation, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). She provides therapy services to individuals, couples, and families, with a special focus on creating affirming spaces for BIPOC communities.

Erika holds a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Adler Graduate School and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Metropolitan State University. She is certified as a crisis counselor, a DBT therapist, and a PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator.

Beyond her clinical work, Erika has been featured as a psychological expert on three episodes of the true crime series "Fatal Attraction" on TV One, providing behavioral analysis and insight into complex relational dynamics.

Recognizing the importance of personal growth and empowerment, Erika rebranded her practice under the new name Emerging Journeys, reflecting a deeper mission: to guide clients through life’s challenges with resilience, authenticity, and hope.

In addition to her therapy practice, Erika is a mentor to emerging clinicians, a community mental health advocate, and a leader in promoting accessible mental wellness resources. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling, exploring new foods, and learning about history and storytelling.

Erika believes healing is a powerful journey, not a destination—and she feels honored to walk alongside clients as they embrace their own emerging paths toward growth and liberation.
